Disaster Emergency Services, LLC (DES) announced the launch of its website in December 2022. DES was founded after the flash flooding that his the St. Louis, MO area in the Summer of 2022 after its founders, Ben Davis and Andrew Polacek, saw an opportunity to offer a better service with better quality at a lower price than the competition.

The sad reality of many cleaning and restoration companies in the St. Louis area is that they are looking to extract as much money as possible from their customer during an emergency and deliver the work as inexpensively as possible, to the detriment of their clients.

Ben and Andy, DES’ founders, saw this firsthand when a local company that had submitted a bid showed up to Water Restoration job they had contracted to do, in a car in bad shape, unable to speak English, and seemingly confused
about what their role was at the job. The company that had subcontracted them had not bothered to tell them what they were doing there for the day and had not even received a signed contract yet.

After sharing this experience with DES’ client, the competing bids were shared by the client with DES. The amount of price gauging was astounding. While emergency services and restoration servies are typically and logically more expensive than general contracting or home improvement jobs, what these companies were charging, especially considering the fact that a least one was outsourcing its won contracts to what were very likely undocumented immigrants with little or no cleaning and restoration knowledge and skills, the bids DES’ saw were excessive.

DES’ founders realized that there must be an opportunity to provide quality cleaning and restoration services at fair prices in the STL area given the overcharing and low quality being provided by the competition. DES looks forward to assisting its clients, whether paying in cash or via insurance claims, in all their emergency or non-emergency cleaning and resotration needsfor the years ahead.
